Hungry for Family

I woke up hungry. It was a strange kind of hungry---like anything was possible.  I began to
search for food.  The search quickly became frantic. I looked at all of my options and nothing
was right. So, I walked to my parent’s house to see what they had in their fridge. Outside I
saw my brother and I loved him so much. I just had to save him.  I pretended to give him a
hug and swallowed him down instead.  I heard him moving about inside so I asked him to be
quiet.  I didn’t want anyone to know I had eaten him.  I took some antacid so he wouldn’t melt
in my stomach.  I was happy to know he was safe in me.  I went inside.  My parents were
worried about something.  I saw my beautiful mother sitting at the table and the afternoon
light made her glow. I was so worried that someday she might with glowing in the afternoon
sunlight.  I looked at my father and his face was strained with worry. So, I did what my
stomach ordered and marched them down my throat.  I could hear them greet my brother,
but I couldn’t quite make out the words.  I had grown to giant proportions by this point so it
only took me a few steps to get to my other brother. He was away at college. I didn’t even
break my stride as I gobbled him up.  I grew tired and fell asleep, resting my head on a
mountain. I couldn’t rest long; I had to find my husband.  Soon I discovered him back at our
house.  He looked up in shock.  I picked him up and slid him down my gullet.  I think he
understood.  Soon enough word got around about what I had done.  Nobody dared to accuse
me because I was so big.  Instead they snuck up while I was sleeping and listened to my
stomach.  They heard my family talking and decided to free them.  They covered me in
explosives and tried to blow me up, but they couldn’t.  When I woke up I was covered in earth
and black with soot.  Hungry, I began to chew off my fingers one by one.  Other bits of me
soon followed. Inside of my stomach my family put me back together. I had been reassembled,
except for my tummy, but I wasn’t hungry any more.
